Babel Game Design Document: Babel GDD

Together with a good friend, we originally made Babel in 5 days for a game jam. This jam's theme was "Tower", and I immediately thought of a game based on the Tower of Babel. In Babel, you must manage your resources to build your tower as high as possible all while avoiding being destroyed by the wrath of God. Our demo of Babel placed in 12th place overall, but placed first in theme integration and 4th in art. Since the jam ended in May of 2025, I spent the entire summer of 2025 working tirelessly on this game to create the original vision I had for the game. In July 2025, we released Babel v1.0, which was met with some amazing feedback from so many awesome playtesters. This project has been so fulfilling as an artist and a designer, and I am so proud of all my hard work.

I have set clear goals for version 2.0 which includes rogue-like elements such as collecting demons that give game modifiers, an event system that permanently alters each run, and major new UI updates. My hope is to have a finished version by 2026 that I can monetize on Steam, and even port to mobile app stores. Overall, this is my favorite project I have worked on, and the culmination of years worth of game design and pixel art experience.

Contributions: I designed Babel from the ground up, created a comprehensive GDD,
wrote the main clicker script along with many core scripts, created all of Babel's art and animations, and created the tutorial.
