Path of the Blade
Heavily inspired by Akira Kurosawa's black and white samurai films, I came up with the concept for Path of the Blade for the 2023 Samurai Game Jam hosted on Itch.io.
Together with a group of 3 other developers, we made this game in under 2 weeks and placed #24 out of 76 submissions. This was my first game jam, and I learned a lot about working in such a short time window.
I coded the randomization of the yin-yang size and location which required large amounts of playtesting to debug. Getting all my code and assets finished in time was a big challenge during a busy semester, but I overcame this by spending some late nights working in the lab with my group-mates.
Role: Game Designer, Artist, Programmer
Contributions: I made all the assets in Aseprite (excluding the parallax background). I also did all of the storyboarding and game design.
